Fabulous book. Was sadder as I read it because I did not want it to end. Very well written. Loved it !

Yes, absolutely, a five star book. I too struggled to get through this tome, but is was so fabulous! Helps if you have some interest in the medical field. But I have such a depth of perspective now that I did not have before - about each location, about people and relationships, about youth and age. Just a most amazing book. The narrator truly is outstanding. Every accent, every character a different tone of voice. Exceptional book to read/listen to. Highly recommended. I did have to check it out 5 times to get through it however!

So book this book took me a long time to read, but I think it was just because I was in a reading slump a bit and picking up a book over 400 pages was not what I wanted to do. The reason I am pinning it on the length and being in a reading slump is because after I finished, I genuinely felt satisfied by what I just read and actually very much enjoyed the story. Interesting setting, characters, and time-period combined with good writing made for a memorable story.

This was an excellent audio-book. The narrator was exceptional. At first I thought it might drag a bit because of all the detail. After getting into it further, I realized it was all necessary to make the plot complete. I'm glad I persisted and listened to the entire book.

Five stars for this author and his book.

Too much time spent on descriptive writing. I found myself continuously scanning through the paragraphs trying to get to the meat of the story. I finally gave up half way through the book.
