Annotation:As boys, George, the son of a Midlands vicar, and Arthur, living in shabby, genteel Edinburgh, find themselves in a vast and complex world at the heart of the British Empire. Years later their fates become inextrcably connected. A fictionalized narrative of actual events, this book was nominated for the Booker Prize - Barnes' third nomination.
Annotation:The setting for Stockett's debut novel is 1960s Jackson, Mississippi. The story is about the lives of black maids and the white women they serve. The voices are perfect pitch, and while the story deals with serious topics, there is humor for the reader and lessons for all.

Annotation:One of [English] history's most shocking crimes - the murder of the two Princes in the Tower by their uncle, the evil, hunchbacked Richard III - reexamined by a 20th century detective. This is Josephine Tey's most famous title, considered a classic of the mystery genre.
Annotation:As the failure of appeasement becomes grimly apparent and Hitler marches into Prague, Nicholas Morath, a Hungarian aristocrat and ex-cavalry officer, is drawn increasingly into danger, as quiet favors become secret missions, until he is risking his life behind enemy lines for the future of a free Europe.
