This book took my heart and ripped it into pieces, even if someone spoiled it for you- it's still very much worth reading. I highly recommend it. Enjoy the book <3 Oh and p.s. it's not the character's death that made me cry my eyes out. It's the the very last few paragraphs and the words that did. Powerful, beautiful, sad, tragic and yet breathtaking. Is it bad that the only part I really enjoyed was the last 50 or so pages?

'And I don't want to die anymore. I am up to the challenge of bearing the guilt and the grief, up to facing the difficulties that life has put in my path. Some days are harder than others, but I am ready to live each one of them. I can't sacrifice myself this time.' - Tris

Let's just not talk about it. The last 50 pages are really the only part of the book I enjoyed (how sick am I? :P)

Someone spoiled he book for me, but still, a completely worthwhile read. Nothing better these days. But, warning, you probably don't want to read this one before Divergent and Insurgent. I didn't read Insurgent, so half of it didn't make sense. So sad. Still wondering why they made another book after this one...

So, I ended up reading this in one day. Not because I was enthralled but because I had the time. A good 2/3rds of this book is pretty slow, all reveal and horror. And that is not necessarily a bad thing, as it was very realistic in how people react to revelations and paradigm changes. As a reader, you are brought along with the characters through the shock of it all. The slowness does drag some but about the time you're ready to throw in, the action suddenly shoots you in the face and then you're off. I think I polished off the last third in about three hours? The ending felt very natural for the story. I would not have wanted it any other way. It's sad but the time taken for the epilogue helps to ease that tragedy so that at the end, you feel hopeful just like the characters do. They've lost people, lost their whole world, but things will get better. The series as a whole suffers a little from "Great story, So-So writer" but the way the ending is done pretty much redeems it for me.

Allegiant is a tragic and scandalous story of death, love and loyalty. It will keep you on your seat, just as it did for me. Read it-- you'll be glad you did!

A finale to a trilogy that is both hard to take, yet true to the characters and ideas throughout the series. The questions underlying the dystopia are interesting and ones we might be asking ourselves soon.

'There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying your life down for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater.
But sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life.
That is the kind of bravery I must have now.' - Tobias
