The singing was good and the plot was very interlooped and all the characters seamlessly connenected. it definitely will evoke some tears out of you seeing the plight of all these characters and the sacrifices they made

The version appearing in the Similar Titles section on this page is a much superior version of 'Les Miserables' (with English subtitles) compared to all other versions.

Its photographic and acting are good. They are probably the only good things in this movie. Unless you are familiar with the full story line of Les Miserables;, you will be totally lost due to missing portions in the beginning. As a musical movie, the melodies are quite plain, quite terrible compared to other musical movies. They could greatly improve its quality by adapting the melodies of Frere Jacques and Joli Tambour instead!

This film was well put together, but will be a major let down to anyone who has seen the live musical. Les Mis is an incredibly elaborate story to portray, especially with so many time leaps and different characters. The director did a splendid job with the portrayal of the time periods, and they all blended together nicely. The effects used throughout the film were spectacular. That is one thing the musical cannot show you as well as the movie can. If you like special effects such as explosions, fights and war battle recreations you will enjoy what the film has to offer. The film was well cast for roles but, as many reviews stated, the actors' singing abilities were lacking. If you are not familiar with the story of Les Mis I would suggest you look up a plot summary before seeing the film, as it can sometimes be hard to follow. I do not think that I would recommend this film to anyone under the age of 13 because of the nature of the plot. There are also many sexual references some parents might not find appropriate for their children. (Keep in mind though most of it would go right over their heads.) Overall I enjoyed the film and thought it was very well performed but it was nowhere near as great as the live musical production. Perhaps, if you are someone who doesn't like musicals but appreciates the story of Les Mis this film might be enough for you.

I enjoyed the movie - but was distracted by playing Who's Who and comparing the story from what I remember from the stage show. I was most pleasantly surprised by Cosette, her voice was so clear and beautiful. I couldn't relate to Javert - his last act seems out of character. It did make me want to read the book to clarify what was going on...

It was my first time I was exposed to Les Misérables. I had a hard time following the story line because it was a real "musical" in which there was very little talking. The singing was wonderful, but it broke up the story so you had to really hear what is being sang to know what is going on. To appreciate this version, you really need to be familiar with the story.

I have heard professional critics who could find fault with this musical but I was too enthralled to find any shortcomings. I loved this and was moved to tears.

I decided to finally watch this film after hearing all the raves about it. I am so glad that I did. Outstanding performances, outstanding story, This is an EPIC FILM. There are SO many things going for this movie that there are too many points to highlight. The entire cast displayed colossal talent but Hugh Jackman to me, delivered a moving and unforgetable performance, I was very impressed with him. I like watching movies that are more than just entertainment but actually contain messages that can help me better myself. The one I took from this one is: no matter the mistakes you've made, you can make the choice to start over and do well. Forgivness is also a powerful message here. Even if there are people opposing you and trying to hang the past in your face, get up and START AGAIN. this movie is EPIC.

Just watched it on new year's eve with my family at Princess of Wales threatre, Toronto. It's just amazing to hear all the songs live and bravo to all the actors. I watched the movie in french with Gerard Depardieu a while ago and I'm watching the Hugh Jackman's and companies version again. Love it.

Lord let me find him, that I may see him safe behind bars I will never rest. Till then, this I swear. This I swear by the stars.

"But the tigers come at night. With their voices soft as thunder. As they tear your hope apart. As they turn your dreams to shame. He slept one summer by my side. Filled my days with endless wonder. He took my childhood in his stride. But he was gone when autum came."

"Look down, look down, don't look 'em in the eye. Look down, look down. You're here until you die."

"Who am I? Can I condem this man to slavery? Pretend I do not feel his agony? And must my name until I die be no more than an alibi? Must I lie? How can I ever face my fellow men? How can I ever face myself again."
