My husband and I enjoyed this film very much. I especially liked how some of the actual news footage from the time was included, giving it a more authentic feel. Good acting and it kept you interested throughout.

As others have stated, I don't know how this movie won Best Picture at the Oscars. There was some good acting but other movies that year were better in my opinion.

I feel similarly to what uzebdrumz did (see comment below — but be warned, there's a tiny spoiler in there), but I felt a lot less angry about it. For sure, there was obvious stretching to make the picture more suspenseful and tense... unnecessarily. But I still learned from the movie and it really was a fascinating story. I think I liked the behind-the-scenes mini-movie (in the dvd extras) as much as the actual feature film — very cool that they got all the actual people involved to give their accounts. Overall, entertaining though over-the-top, and I'm surprised it won all the awards it did.

A really great story, and definitely kept me on edge!

If there is any thing to say about this time period in people's lifes it's more of a doco than any thing else. So any body could of played the actors, first come first served,so what else would i say is the ones who did do the movie have created something worlth wacthing all the way to the end with the help of everyone who was involved in this production!!!

This movie was worth watching. I don't know how nearly the film documented the actual event, but this was suspenseful. I enjoyed watching this.

I enjoyed it for raising awareness to the fact that sometimes people bringing problems onto their own head. I wish it would have really pointed out that the hostage situation was mostly non violent; especially in the face of the US defiantly trying to make exceptions for themselves. the only thing that I thought was complete bull was when the president said "we dont negotiate with terrorists" lol...right you just fund them! i went in knowing they were going to over dramatize parts; that just made me more eager to research and find out the truth behind the movie. if anyone was trying to watch this to find out the "true story" i think you're being very native. documentary are ture. movies not. all in all, i thought it was hyped the right amount.

Tony Mendez: "What happened?" Jack O'Donnell: "Six of them went out a back exit. Brits turned them away; Kiwis turned them away; Canadians took them in. Traffic calls them "house guests". They haven't left The Canadian Ambassador's house since it happened." Tony Mendez: "Why weren't we in ten weeks ago?" Jack O'Donnell: "Too dangerous. Got revolutionary guards going door-to-door like Jehovah's witnesses. Half of 'em think that Khomeini's been too lenient on the ones in the embassy." Tony Mendez: "What about The White House?"
