I've only read the giver and this book but I know a little about the other 2 and this connects the other 3 books together and it makes everything fall into place. The giver is fine without a sequel cuz it leaves something to your imagination and the giver needs no further explainations but this gives it to you anyway and this book is just amazing

Finished this series the other week. The book, and series as a whole, makes you think twice about the different type of societies."Son" is a great ending to a good series. I love how Lowry tied everything together in the end using different perspectives and lessons in each book.

Huh. Interesting. I read the Giver 4 years ago and the others but only saw this this past week. The series really does give a whole new perspective on the "dystopian society" thing...makes us wonder if this world Lowry created is actually utopian or not.

A great conclusion to the series. I am really fascinated by this universe and would love to know more about the time frame - is this far off in the future or on another planet entirely?
Anyways, I can't wait to own this entire series.

An interesting end to The Giver series. I loved it yet I was slightly annoyed by it; I liked that it wrapped up the series, however Lowry left a lot of loose ends. It has the same tone as the other books; it blends seamlessly into the series.

It seems that the community where The Giver begins is what, for me, makes these books special. I had trouble getting into Gathering Blue, The Messenger, and the latter part of Son. Nevertheless, one of the few science fiction series I'll read, and fantastically imagined.

They called her Water Claire. When she washed up on their shore, no one knew that she came from a society where emotions and colors didn’t exist. That she had become a Vessel at age thirteen. That she had carried a Product at age fourteen. That it had been stolen from her body. Claire had a son. But what became of him she never knew. What was his name? Was he even alive? She was supposed to forget him, but that was impossible. Now Claire will stop at nothing to find her child, even if it means making an unimaginable sacrifice. Son thrusts readers once again into the chilling world of the Newbery Medal winning book, The Giver, as well as Gathering Blue and Messenger where a new hero emerges. In this thrilling series finale, the startling and long-awaited conclusion to Lois Lowry’s epic tale culminates in a final clash between good and evil.

By the way, it's the fourth book to the Giver series.
