Mom yells at me to hurry, or I’ll be late for the bus. My younger brother Alex is right at my heels. Same old, same old. Right? Wrong! As the boys ride their buses to school, a freak hailstorm hits (denting the roof, cracking the windshield, breaking the windows). As Dean watches, his brother’s bus goes slamming through the glass doors of the local superstore, as his bus tips over and lands on its roof. Chaos reigns for the next 12 days as 14 kids (ranging from 5 – 17 years old) try to survive inside a chain superstore as the world outside falls apart. A cross between Hunger Games and Lord of the Flies. The sequel Monument 14: Sky on Fire is due to be released Spring/Summer 2013. Reviewed by GE
I really liked this book, due to the fact that it wasnt just teenagers that were the main focus, but also children. then the blood symptons were just original. great book.
Very fast-paced. Reminiscent of Lord of the Flies.
Amazing book! A lot better than I expected. Hoping for a sequel soon!
This is an awesome book! The story is fast-paced, realistic, and exciting. The story (14 teens and kids stuck in a megastore during a catastrophe) is portrayed really well. The teenagers and kids are all "real" characters; the author has strong and genuine voices for each kid. It seems like there is a sequel coming and I cannot wait to read it.
Amazing Book! I loved the whole story
