Read it for Book Club after resisting it for years and it was quite good. Not great, but quite good.

I want to give it 6 stars! I love this book! I have never smiled so much in a book. 10 pages in and I wanted to quote at least 5 things. I want to write more letters. I want to send telegrams. I want to start a Literary Society. I want my very own Sidney, Sophie, Kit and Dawsey! Juliet is perfection. I cried several times. More than once I was crying enough to have to put the book down for a minute or two. But those tears were a necessary part to the story, and made the smiles even better. Please let there eventually be a sequel! But no movie. It just won't work, so no one should ever try.

A good book; my dad didn't care for it and it took a while for my mom to get into it but for me it was a nice change of pace. I have written letters most of my life therefore I think I was especially welcoming of the format.

Nauseatingly tedious. Way too sappy and cute for my taste. Too many characters and they lacked distinct voices. My 90 year old mum might enjoy it though.

By far this is still my favorite of books.

Oh, this is a wonderful book! It far exceeded my expectations. It's written entirely in correspondence, but stick with it and you'll be richly rewarded. Charming, yes, but not frivolous. You'll never forget these characters.

Very lovely, definitely a book to read with a hot drink, bundled up on a rainy day. The only reason I did not give it a full out 5 was because it did take a while for me to get into it. However, the ending was immensely rewarding.

“I wonder how the book got to Guernsey? Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers.”
